YOU ARE INCLUDED IN GOD IN CHRIST
24/02/24 13:31
For those of us raised in separationism, and many are, the law is usually seen as distinct from God, meaning separate from God. Some believe that God is revealed by His law while others go so far as to infer that God is subordinate to the law. That would mean that if the law is separate from God and God is subject to it, then God would not be God. The law would be God. Legalism has its own irrationality.
TREE OF KNOWLEDGE SANCTIFIED
Ministries large and small exist to bring people into the union with God that they already possess. Karl Marx described this kind of religion as the opiate of the people.
SEPARATIST DELUSION
There are those who are so glued to separationism and its compartmentalised reality that they are certain that the oneness that is ours in God and attested by the scriptures in John 17 and other places is ‘new age.’ Nothing new about this stance. Genuine Godliness as opposed to religiosity has been called ‘new age’ for as long as I can remember. This is because false religion makes Christianity into ‘the letter that kills, moralism and position mongering. The letter does kill. It kills intelligence, spirituality and suffocates the spirit of sonship. But this barely undead existence is not our inheritance. Our inheritance is that we and Father are one in Jesus Christ. You are joined to life itself.
MINISTERS OF THE LETTER
It’s unfortunate when people live as an ideologue rather than a son/daughter of God. They denude themselves of sonship and become agents of darkness disguised as agents of light.
Jesus affirms oneness as do the apostles and Church Fathers such as St Athanasius. All truly born again believers live in oneness with God when they step into what already is: The incarnation. Separationism as a form of Christianity is a delusion. It’s the great darkness, equal in its malodorous effect to Arianism. Indeed, John’s gospel defines any diminution of the truth that Christ has come in us – in our flesh – as originating with the spirit of anti-christ.
RED HERRING RELIGION
The enterprise of the trinity was never to create a religion out of Jesus Christ. It has always been to create the Kingdom of God – the new creation out of the trinity in us. Every protestation against oneness with God has its origin in the original lie with its contention that God is not enough, we are not enough and something must be added to our inheritance in God. Don’t succumb to such witchcraft.
Separationism is opposite to the nature of God and certainly does not describe the trinity. Such segmented notions of God are an effect of the fragmented mindset that is the knowledge of good and evil – not of the nature of God in His oneness and desire to make the whole creation one in Christ. ‘As a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth’ Eph 1.10 ESV.
MADE ONE
Oneness – unity in diversity – is the nature of the trinity and the nature of a healed world. It is what Jesus is achieving in oneness with you.
There is no law separate from God. He is the I AM of Godself – unified in being and doing. Karl Barth observes, “The whole being and life of God is an activity, both in eternity and in worldly time, both in himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and in his relation to the human being and all creation.” (IV/1, 7 rev.) (1) God simply is I AM.
MEANING OF HISTORY
The issue of salvation history is the trustworthiness and love of God, your union with God as YOUR NOW REALITY and your sonship with God as achieved by Jesus Christ.
God is three in one and you are one in union with the one who is three. Perichoresis – the nature of the trinity’s union in uniqueness is your relationship with God. The fullness of the God-head lives in you. You are in God in the person of Jesus Christ. Yet one with God you are fully you in your identity and purpose. You are whole because God is whole and holy because God is holy and God is part of you. This is the law of the spirit of life.
IT'S A RELATIONSHIP
There is no separate law hovering as an abstraction in space. Paul’s use of the words, ‘the law of the spirit of life’ denotes the nature of God and the life of all who agree that they are part of His being and fellowship. ‘Realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20. The law of the spirit of life is Jesus Christ.
Jesus did not come among us to uphold the law. He came to live out in the flesh, union with God and the wholeness and life that would become our life. Not only as an example but as the living way that makes us one with God and one with the law of the spirit of life. He is in you and with you now. Recognise what is real and abandon cunningly devised fables.
Jesus Christ has come in your flesh. He is in your spirit, soul and body. God is in you and with you.
‘This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
1 John 4.2 NIV’
